Ronald J.
Shebuski
Ron has over 20 years
experience in the pharmaceutical industry and served as the Director
of Cardiovascular Therapeutics at Pharmacia & Upjohn from 1990-1998.
Most recently, Ron serves as the Senior Director for Pre-Clinical
Research for Afmedica, Inc in Kalamazoo, MI.
In 1998, Ron started
a pharmaceutical cardiovascular research consulting firm (CVR2000,
LLC) and co-founded a medical device company in Eden Prairie, MN,
CarePoint Medical, Inc., which is developing a diagnostic point-of-care
panel to assist physicians in chest pain triage in the emergency
room.
Previous to directing
the cardiovascular group at Pharmacia & Upjohn, Ron was a Senior
Scientist responsible for leading cardiovascular drug discovery
teams at Merck Research Laboratories and Smith Kline & French
in the Philadelphia area.
Ron's primary field of
research has focused on platelet and coagulation activation in thrombosis
and the development of effective new therapies. He is an Adjunct
Professor of Pharmacology at the University of Michigan and Minnesota
Medical Schools, lecturing in cardiovascular pharmacology.
He received his B.S.
Degree in Microbiology from the University of Wisconsin at Madison
and Ph.D. Degree in Pharmacology from the University of Minnesota
Medical School.
