Dr. Samuel Yenne, PhD, MBA

Dr. Yenne has nearly twenty years of product development and project management experience in life science industry ranging from target discovery to commercial product launch. After receiving his Ph.D. from Virginia Tech, Dr. Samuel Yenne joined Rhône-Poulenc Ag Company, now Bayer Crop Science, as a scientist in the Metabolism and Environmental Fate group. In this position Dr. Yenne conducted research to determine the metabolic and environmental fate of pesticides in various biological systems such as plants, animal, water, and soil. These studies were used to direct product development efforts and to meet various state, federal and international regulations. Sam was also responsible for creating screening assays to predict soil metabolism and to aid structure-activity-relationship analysis for new molecules. Dr. Yenne continued to accept additional responsibilities including project team leader and technical representative to product development team for a new insecticide. In this role, Sam was responsible for coordinating over 30 environmental fate, metabolism, and residue studies required for product registration.

After completing an MBA at Duke University, Sam transferred from research and development to commercial operations where he was responsible for directing all product development activities for insecticides in the turf and ornamental markets. In this role, Dr. Yenne liaised with Marketing, customers, and other technical experts to launch one new insecticide and increase market potential for 3 additional insecticides.

Dr. Yenne left Rhône-Poulenc in 1997 to pursue strategic business consulting where he assisted executive management teams in developing and implementing business performance measurements and the processes necessary to improve these metrics.

In 2001, Sam joined Paradigm Genetics and assumed responsibility for a $50 million multi-year herbicide target discovery project and other health-care related projects.
